Bill Stiles' Swimsuit
That's right - if you come to next week's class social, you're likely to see Bill Stiles in a swimsuit. Thankfully, he has promised not to wear the one his mom bought him for the high dive!!

We want to encourage everyone to be a part of the after-church fellowship at the ponds next Sunday, June 29. We so appreciate Tom and Wendy Weldon for inviting us all and making this possible. The whole family is invited.
Here is a link to the map: On Weldon Pond

I pledge to wear my bathing suit to Sunday School next week. If you don't believe it, then be there to check it out. There is a restroom at the ponds, but Wendy says it may not be the one you want to change in.

Bryant--Please continue to pray for Aaron's grandparents who are still in the process of moving from their home of 35 years to a home closer to everyone. Pray that Aaron's uncle Howard will have the strength and wisdom as he has many decisions to make as a conservator over the grandparent's estate. Also, decisions for us--many in the summer to be made.
Rodgers--Bryan's mom is still waiting on doctors to make a decision on what to do surgery-wise. Unspoken.
Weldons--Pray for the campaign and election in July.
Salley--Cristy's grandfather fell at church Sunday. He has six stitches and quite a bit of swelling and bruising on his head and around his eye. He is now at home, but will go back to the hospital for a scan of an aneurysm that doctors believe was existing before the fall. Cristy says he is refusing to take any pain medications, just toughing it out.
VanBuskirks--Valerie is at 35 weeks and the babies could come any day now!
Prescotts--Traveling this week.
Faulks--Jennifer's mother is doing better. Pray for Chris and Jennifer as well--number six on the way!
Stiles--Janice is still feeling poorly. We're also concerned about Sarah's mom (Whit's girlfriend's mom) who got discouraging news that cancer was found in her lymph nodes.

Bucket Brigade

There was a time in America before fire trucks and hydrants that neighbors fought fires as a bucket brigade. All willing men and women would come running with buckets in hand and take their places in line to pass water hand to hand from source to blaze. Their efforts were pretty anemic, but they did what they could.
A little over a year ago we introduced our own bucket in the Sunday School class, with the idea of doing a little bit to help supply water to villages in Africa. The intent was that all willing men and women would drop in a dollar--just a dollar--as they wanted to . . . no pressure, no weekly announcements. Over the year we raised about $150, all of which went to BloodWater Mission.
Over the past six months, however, the bucket has gotten pretty lonely. Many weeks went by without any dollars going in at all, so for the past two months I just left the bucket in its hiding place. But with your permission, I would like to bring it back.
WorldVision, and a number of other trustworthy Christian organizations, offer programs to sponsor children and feed the poor around the world. I propose we use our bucket for this purpose--to sponsor a child. If we raise more than the sponsorship amount in a particular month, we'll provide it to the ministry to help others.
If the class supports it, I will put the bucket out in its spot near the door. Then as we all feel led, we'll drop in a dollar or so a week and see how it goes.
Every bucket has at least one hole in it--in the top--where stuff goes in. One person and one bucket can't do much, but a whole brigade can change someone's life.
Give me your thoughts,
Bill

Parents Night Out / VBS Update
There will not be a Parents Night Out in June. We will have one in July, but we're not sure of the date yet. You'll see it here first when the date is decided.
Vacation Bible School (VBS) will occur each night from Sun, June 22 - Thurs, June 26 6:30-8:30pm. We need Elementary Crew leaders and Nursery workers. An Elementary Crew leader will be responsible for leading and participating in the evenings activities with 5-6 school age children. Nursery workers will work in a classroom with children aged 9 months to two years old.
If you are interested in helping, call Michelle Hill at the church or by email mhill@brainerdbaptist.org.

Dawn of a new age
Well, not New Age (with capital letters), as in Oprah Winfrey or Tom Cruise, but a new age nonetheless. We've decided it's time to enhance the communications of the Homebuilders Class, courtesy of Blogger.com. Our goal is to keep this webpage updated with the latest information on the class, such as ...
- Prayer requests
- Praises
- Answered prayers (wouldn't it be great to look back on all our answered prayers from the past year?!?!)
- Events calendar
- Message notes
- Etc.
For example, you can follow this link to our calendar of events.
We hope you will find this website useful and that it provides a convenient mechanism for you to keep up with what's going from wherever you are ... home, work or even on vacation!
Check back as we are just getting under way and should be adding new content frequently for the next few days.
God bless and have a great week!
